ENVIRONMENT Minister Martin Cullen yesterday insisted a ruling by the UN Court of Arbitration was an important step forward in the Government’s campaign to close Sellafield.

Environment Minister Martin Cullen has vowed to continue Government legal action against Sellafield, despite the UN Court of Arbitration dismissing efforts to gain access to confidential information about the operation of the nuclear plant.

The UN Court of Arbitration has begun hearing an Irish application to force Britain to disclose its financial plans and projects for the Sellafield nuclear plant.

The UN court of Arbitration has been told that the Irish Sea is one of the most radioactive in the world.
