Dangerous high-speed driving across North Cork in a stolen car at around 11am forced gardaí and people working on the roads to jump to safety, a court has heard.

A major manhunt involving up to 40 gardaí and lasting 90 minutes took place in Cork City last night after a bookmakers was forced to hand over almost €5,000 at gunpoint.

Gardaí have arrested three men and recovered a firearm following an attempted robbery at a post office in north Dublin this morning.
