A county councillor is seeking a safety audit on all old public buildings, amid fears recent arson attacks on publicly-owned properties in West Cork and Cork city could lead to further destruction.

LAST week, Kinsale Community College students Ciara Judge, Emer Hickey and Sophie Healy-Thow beat 120 entries from 38 countries to win the 2013 EU Young Scientist of the Year competition.

They’ve had to wait nearly 150 years, but residents of one West Cork village finally have a traditional organ in their church.
