The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is reportedly planning to appeal a massive tax bill it has received in connection with a testing agreement designed to ensure the safety of Irish blood supplies.

A haemophilia centre in the North has revealed that a "very small number" of haemophiliacs may have been given blood products from a donor who developed variant CJD, the human form of BSE.
