Rock veterans the Eagles have teamed up with US stores Wal-Mart and Sam's Club to raise money for charity by selling a limited number of autographed guitars.

Wal-Mart, the world's number 1 retailer, has announced it has officially launched its online Music Downloads service from its Web site, charging 88 cents (71 cent) per song.

US cut-price retailer Wal-Mart reported fiscal second-quarter net income from ongoing operations of $2.3bn (€2.04bn), or 52 cents a share, up from 45 cents a share in the same period a year earlier.

Wal-Mart quarterly earnings have been boosted by strong sales growth at its US stores.
