THE Government must fast-track a €25 million upgrade to Cork city’s water network.

THE Government should provide €21 million to upgrade Cork’s main water treatment plant, make it flood proof, and secure the city’s supply of drinking water, the city manager said last night.

AN end is in sight to the crisis that has left almost 20,000 households in Cork city without water after city officials last night predicted its damaged treatment plant would return to full production before next Sunday.

People throughout the country have been hit by rising floodwaters.
