LIMERICK City Council has been called on to carry out an urgent inspection of the site of the on-hold Opera (Shopping) Centre in the city centre as may of the buildings there are over 100 years old and have been unoccupied for years.

LIMERICK city centre has received another boost with confirmation yesterday that work on the massive Opera Centre development is to get underway in the new year.

Planners in Limerick have given the green light to the city’s biggest ever retail development, which will be dedicated to the memory of the world-renowned 19th century soprano, Catherine Hayes.
