The National Union of Journalists has strongly criticised the actions of the gardaí in forcing a leading Irish photographic agency to hand over images of a protest outside the Department of Justice in Dublin.

The founder of an Irish news photo agency has revealed he was forced to hand over photos from the agency's coverage of water protests to gardaí.

Julien Behal scooped the top prize of photojournalist of the year at the Press Photographers’ Association of Ireland awards last night.
