Levi Strauss is to close its last manufacturing plants in the United States and Canada, axeing nearly 2,000 jobs, the struggling jeans maker has confirmed.

Levi Strauss & Co has produced a second-quarter loss of $81m (€83m), marking the first time the company has lost money in three years.
