A plan aiming to restore Killarney’s reputation as one of the premier parkland golf resorts in the country has just been launched.

Killarney Golf Club last night said it has reached an agreement with its staff on a restructuring plan, thereby averting a strike which was due to begin on May 7.

Course superintendent at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club David MacIndoe is leaving the club this week after almost 30 years in the position.

Members of a top golf club hit by a cash-flow crisis have been told “very deep and significant change” is needed to ensure its survival.
