The Governor of the Central Bank has said he is hopeful of a successful renegotiation of promissory notes payable to the former Anglo Irish Bank.

ANGLO Irish Bank chairman, Alan Dukes has said that the complete wind down of the bank and its sister operation, the Irish Nationwide Building Society (INBS), could be completed quicker than the ten-year timeframe set by the Government.

THE acting head of AIB has said the bank could consider recommending to the Government that its new chief executive be paid nearly €200,000 more than the agreed €500,000 cap on bank executives pay.

THE National Asset Management Agency has defended its decision to sanction salaries of up to €200,000 for developers who owe in excess of €1 billion to taxpayers.

The chairman of NAMA has said that some builders operating under its regime are being paid salaries of up to €200,000.

NAMA says further court action against builders failing to co-operate with the agency are likely before the end of the year.

The head of the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) has said around €7.5bn has been saved by imposing losses on junior bondholders in Irish banks, and that the funds can now be re-diverted towards helping to run the country until 2013/
