REGIONAL newspaper publisher Johnson Press said its titles in the Republic are performing worse than those in Britain due to the slowdown in the Irish classified advertising market.

REGIONAL newspaper operator, Johnston Press saw advertising revenues at its Irish operations fall by nearly 33% – in local currency terms – last year, but is still not ready to re-visit attempts to sell out of the market.

A volatile week for the FTSE 100 Index was underlined today after the index staged an 80 point turnaround to break back through the 5800 barrier.

Anglo Irish saw 45c shaved off its share price today to close at €11.90.
