Notorious murderer Catherine Nevin today applied for the Court of Criminal Appeal to order the release of secret State files on three Garda informers whose evidence helped convict her.

Widow Catherine Nevin is to take her case to the European Courts in a bid to overturn her murder conviction, it emerged tonight.

Catherine Nevin, jailed for life for the murder of her husband, was beginning an appeal against her sentence today.
