Trade union chiefs threatened strikes over the devastating Bank of Scotland (Ireland) job losses tonight and warned they will fight any other cuts in the sector.

AMICUS has reached agreement in pension negotiation with Irish Life and Permanent TSB. The outline agreement was reached at a meeting yesterday between the bank and union officials.

Consumer confidence is high heading into 2005, according to a survey conducted by Irish Life and Permanent TSB.
