AN extinction threat to the traditional Irish draught workhorse has been raised in the Dáil by Cork North Central Labour TD Kathleen Lynch.

Irish Draught horses, enjoying a resurgence in the market place, have been further boosted by €5,000 funding from the RDS Foundation, towards a breed preservation plan.

THE Irish Horse Board is to cut supports for organisations such as the Show Jumping Association of Ireland, following a reduction in its Government funding.
