Ireland has leaped above the UK for the first time in an annual global study of the most desirable emigration destinations.

The IDA has insisted Ireland remains an attractive location for overseas workers, despite new research showing the country has slipped alarmingly down the pecking order in a global league table of desireable move locations for expatriates.

Ireland has been ranked the world’s fourth most welcoming country in a comprehensive survey covering 195 different nations.
