BRITISH film director David Puttnam will open one of the country’s best known food festivals on Saturday by addressing an international food conference.

THE challenge of meeting food demands of a growing world population while respecting environmental concerns — in particular, climate change concerns — were discussed at a meeting in Dublin last week of agricultural economists from Ireland and Britain.

A donation of €260,000 has been given to the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN from the Department of Agriculture.
