A NEW business park being built in Shannon will provide more than 4,000 jobs within the next three years, it was announced yesterday.

A new broadband network is set to provide high speed internet access at affordable prices for businesses outside Dublin, it emerged today.

Mobile phone operator Vodafone has finalised agreements with ESB Telecoms and e-net, the managed services entity for the State’s regional broadband infrastructure, to allow Vodafone Ireland access to the fibre optic networks offered by the two companies.

ESB Telecoms has chosen Damovo to supply it with interconnection equipment which allows other telecoms operators to access its nationwide fibre backbone.

THE ESB’s €137 million sell-off of its Irish retail network and its British electrical construction business is likely to be the end of the State utility’s disposal of non-core assets at this time.
