THE number of so-called “drug mules” attempting to smuggle drugs in through the country’s airports fell last year, although some people are still caught carrying as much as 1kg of cocaine in their system.

A 42-year-old Dublin man appeared at The Bridewell District Court today, charged with having in his possession €220,000 worth of heroin on Saturday evening.

Gardaí in Dublin say they have seized €5,000 worth of cocaine in a search of a nightclub in Finglas last night.
