Daveta retained their Limerick World Club Se7ens title at Thomond Park but Connacht captain Shane Layden believes his side’s future is bright after they walked away with the Irish bragging rights.

Colm McMahon, formerly of Shannon and Munster and now coach of the Munster squad in this weekend’s Limerick World Club Sevens at Thomond Park, knows exactly the kind of player he needs to help relieve Fijian side Daveta of the trophy they lifted 12 months ago.

Thomond Park plays host to rugby of a slightly different variety this weekend when 12 teams battle for the inaugural Limerick World Sevens.

Limerick is hosting Ireland’s first ever rugby World Club 7’s event, with a feast of rugby taking place in Thomond Park over the weekend.
