Cancer sufferers have urged the public to dig deep this Daffodil Day to help ensure services are in place for the 43,000 more people expected to be diagnosed with the condition over the next eight years.

IN 1987, the bleakness of cancer was teamed with one of the brightest flowers of spring, the daffodil, because of a trip Charles Cully, a founder member of the Irish Cancer Society, took to Toronto.

A €3 MILLION target has been set for this year’s Daffodil Day fundraiser — to pay for vital services for the country’s rapidly growing number of cancer patients.

EVERY half an hour someone somewhere in Ireland is diagnosed with cancer.
