CORK hurling manager Denis Walsh has slammed the GAA’s decision to ban inter-county training sessions in November and December.

THE CORK County Board is sitting on a €2 million allocation from Croke Park for a GAA centre of excellence in the county, with negotiations on a location for the centre with Cork City Council at a “delicate stage”, it emerged last night.

CORK COUNTY BOARD chairman Jerry O’Sullivan insists it is “unfair” to focus the attention regarding the appointment of Cork’s Games Promotion Officers on the fact that senior hurling boss Denis Walsh was overlooked for the post.

GRASSROOTS clubs in Cork have called for an immediate and widespread overhaul of county GAA structures in the wake of several recent high profile stand-offs between players and the board.
