Men cross-dressing, runners of both sexes, charities jumping for joy — the Evening Echo Women’s mini- marathon attracted it’s usual quota of outrageous outfits, pink wigs and big hearts, all out for a good cause.

A replica, walk-through First World War trench which has been installed in Cork’s public museum will allow visitors to experience the dark, cramped, and brutal conditions endured by the millions of soldiers who died in trench warfare.

Cork’s first food bank will open next year, with organising group Bia saying the initiative will provide access to tonnes of surplus food that otherwise would go to waste.

RECENTLY 13 members of the Cork Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society travelled by rail to Dublin for a week’s respite in the MS Care Centre inRathgar. They returned after a fun week in Dublin, again by rail. The journey to and from Dublin went smoothly and the help received from Irish Rail staff was excellent.
