THE search for survivors of Haiti’s killer earthquake started to wind down and Haiti’s government said yesterday it would move some 400,000 homeless to new villages to be built outside the wrecked capital.

The soldier grandson of General Augusto Pinochet has been thrown out of the Chilean army after causing an uproar with a funeral speech denouncing judges who had tried the late dictator.

General Augusto Pinochet was released from hospital after surgery for a dental infection, the Chilean army said in Santiago.
