Lakeland Dairies chief executive Michael Hanley cited the excellent quality of milk in border-adjacent counties, when picking up the two main honours at the inaugural Cavan Business and Tourism awards.

IN its battle to prevent its general insurance business from being formally placed into administration by the courts on Monday the Quinn Group, headed by billionaire Sean Quinn, claimed there was “no issue” with liquidity in that part of the business.

ENTERPRISE Ireland has been drafted in by the Taoiseach in an attempt to alleviate the threat of job losses at the Quinn Group – the general insurance division which was placed in provisional administration by the High Court last week.

QUINN Insurance is expected to remain in either full or partial administration for several years to come.

The Cavan GAA County Board has come out in support of the workers at Quinn Insurance.
