Irelands quest for a medal at the European Junior Boxing Championships ended in disappointment yesterday following quarter-final defeats for John Joe Nevin and Mark McCullagh in Sombor Serbia.

Irish bantamweight Mark McCullough had to settle for a bronze medal this afternoon after he lost his European Union Junior Championships semi-final to Mike McGuire in Poland.

The Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) were celebrating today after winning four gold and one silver medal and the boxer of the tournament award at the Danas Pozniakis Junior Multi Nations finals in Lithuania.
