Teenagers paid tribute online last night to their friend who drowned in what the Irish Coast Guard said was "a tragic accident" at a reservoir in Co Louth.

The wife of angler Daryl Burke, 30, who drowned after a sudden storm capsized a boat on Lough Ree eight weeks ago, gave birth to the couple’s only daughter on Saturday.

An ancient log boat, possibly thousands of years old, has been discovered partly embedded in the banks of the Boyne river in Drogheda, possibly where it originally sank and indicating that Drogheda could have other hidden treasures.
