Belfast City Council tonight elected an entrepreneur with a media empire in Belfast and New York as the new Lord Mayor.

The Andersonstown News is to cease publication of one of its twice-weekly editions with the loss of nine jobs.

The New York-based Irish Echo newspaper has secured new investment from a group of investors led by businessman and former GAA President Peter Quinn.
