The former head of Beamish and Crawford has become the latest person to voice public fears about the future of the stalled €53m Cork event centre project on the former brewery site.

Last orders was called at Ireland’s oldest brewery today as it pulled down the shutters for a final time.

IT would be fine gesture for the further enhancement of Cork city if Heineken were to demolish the awful eyesore that is the Beamish brewery with the exception of the Counting House which is a listed building.

HERITAGE campaigners have thrown down the gauntlet to brewing giant Heineken just days before it closes Ireland’s oldest brewery with the loss of 120 jobs.

ONE of Cork city’s best known characters has lamented the closure of the Beamish & Crawford brewery, saying Cork will lose part of its soul.
