FINE GAEL has accused Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe of using the school building programme as a Fianna Fáil electioneering machine after the Irish Examiner revealed he had two schools added to a building announcement at the last minute.

TEACHERS have called for Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe to immediately publish the prioritisation of all school building projects on his website after it emerged he had two schools added at the last minute to the most recent announcement in February.

ALMOST two-thirds of schools that were told 18 months ago that their building projects would be started by early this year are still waiting for approval from the Department of Education, the Irish Examiner has learned.
