Israel has arrested a Palestinian employee of the United Nations in Gaza, accusing him of using his position to assist the Islamic militant Hamas group, which rules the coastal territory.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he would be “perfectly open” to meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in order to end weeks of Israeli-Palestinian unrest.
