Sixteen people have been killed in central India after a bus crashed through the railings of a bridge before falling into a dry river bed.

A bus plunged off a bridge into a dry river bed, killing at least 26 people in western India.

Rescuers pulled 53 bodies from the wreckage of a crowded bus that veered off a steep mountain road in Indian-controlled Kashmir today.
