The Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy wants to bring back the People in Need Telethon to RTÉ to help ease what he calls the Strumpet City-type poverty in Ireland.

The country's efforts to raise money for People in Need came to a spectacular close last night with a final tally of €5.4m.
