Irish men and women who died in past wars or on service with the UN will be remembered today at a series of events across Ireland.

THE Government has sought to reassure the public that the threat of a terrorist attack on Ireland remains low in the aftermath of yesterday's terrorist atrocity in central London.

PRESIDENT Mary McAleese laid a wreath in honour of Irishmen and women who died in wars or on duty with the United Nations yesterday.

The National Day of Commemoration ceremony takes place in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, in Dublin today.
