The Irish film festival which honours screen icon Maureen O’Hara and hails Hollywood’s golden era has been cancelled at the eleventh hour.

THE US Marine Corps last night honoured screen legend Maureen O’Hara for one of her great war-time movie roles, which it says helped boost recruitment during the Second World War.

HE not only captured Marilyn Monroe at her most intimate, but is responsible for one of the most iconic screen images of all time — the famous shot of the blonde bombshell standing over a subway grill on the set of The Seven Year Itch, her white halter dress billowing in the rush of uprising air.
