A car bomb exploded in south-western Pakistan today, killing at least five people.

A suicide attacker detonated a bomb early today at a mosque outside the home of Pakistan’s former interior minister as he received visitors on an Islamic holiday, killing a reported 55 people and wounding dozens more, authorities said.

ANGER mounted across Pakistan yesterday after an attempt to kill al-Qaida’s number two missed the target, but caused the death of at least 17 other people.

Pakistan’s prime minister today announced a cease-fire by forces on the Line of Control that divides the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir, where fire is routinely exchanged with India.
