Airline pilots should be psychologically screened and details of their medical visits shared in a proposed European database, according to new recommendations delivered to the European Commission in the wake of the Germanwings disaster.

Europe’s air safety regulator says it has found more than 10 incidents in recent years in which Germany appeared lax in following aviation medical requirements, prompting a European Commission investigation that is still under review.

German daily Bild and French magazine Paris Match said their reporters have been shown a video they say was taken by someone inside the cabin of the doomed plane shortly before it crashed.

Many airlines worldwide have begun to adopt rules similar to those put in place by the Irish Aviation Authority a decade ago to ensure there are always two crew members on the flight decks of passenger jets while airborne.
