Young people starting out on a career in farming have been urged to adopt a cautious approach when seeking to borrow money from banks and lending institutions.

The team of judges for the final of the prestigious FBD Young Farmer of the Year awards, which will take place in Bantry, Co Cork, next Tuesday, will be headed by Michael Berkery. 

The 16th annual FBD Young Farmer of the Year awards is under way, with organisers looking for young farmers who are actively involved in the running of a farm, full or part time, to apply.
