A GARDA crackdown on a controversial student drinking festival, which had wreaked havoc in a Cork suburb, has been hailed a complete success.

THE owner of the main bar at the centre of the so-called ‘CIT Christmas Day’ declared yesterday that his premises would no longer have anything to do with the event.

GARDAÍ and residents in Bishopstown, Co Cork, have objected to the liquor licence being renewed for two bars in the area unless the bars’ owners gave undertakings not to have anything to do with the so-called CIT Christmas Day.
