Ireland’s Eddie Dunbar claimed the biggest win of his career at the weekend when he became the first Irish rider to win the U23 edition of one of cycling’s hardest races - the Tour of Flanders.

Rising Irish star Eddie Dunbar gets his pro career with Axeon-Hagens Berman off to a start in Portugal today when he competes in the two-day GP Liberty Seguros–Trofeu Alpendre.

Though there were plenty of contenders, including Sam Bennett and Eddie Dunbar, Dingle woman Josie Knight was perhaps the breakthrough Irish cyclist of 2014.

Hopefully now with the new sponsor, it’ll increase the chances of getting to that level and give me time to develop because I’m still young.
