There has been a call for motorists to be issued with penalty points if they park in cycling lanes.

Cycling campaigners have staged a rally in Cork city this evening calling for a crackdown on motorists who park in the city's bike lanes.

At least two people were killed when part of an elevated bike lane, built ahead of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, was hit by a strong wave and collapsed on to the beach below, authorities in Brazil said.
