The Government is looking at how to speed up the planning process for big investment projects like data centres.

Galway East TD, Anne Rabbitte, has said Apple CEO’s Tim Cook’s refusal to confirm the future of the Apple Data centre in Athenry underlines the need for planning changes to stream line such critical projects.

Campaigners for an €850m data centre in Athenry hope work begins as soon as possible now that the objectors have been denied permission to appeal.
