Here are the carry-on baggage allowances for Ireland's major airlines — including Ryanair's new size

Baggage allowance varies between airlines. Here's what you need to know
Ryanair has increased the size of its underseat bag by 5cm for travellers this summer.
From Thursday, September 4, the new dimensions will measure 40 x 30 x 20cm. Previously, this was 40 x 20 x 25cm.
The change comes after EU lawmakers voted to make free airline luggage allowances meet a minimum size of 40 x 30 x 15cm, which has resulted in Ryanair increasing the height by 10cm, but reducing the depth by 5cm.
The news has been welcomed by customers, as Ryanair had the smallest underseat bag dimensions of all major airlines that fly from Cork, Dublin and Shannon airports.

Under the changes to their onboard baggage allowance, the airline will allow all passengers to bring bags measuring 40 x 30 x 20cm onto the plane with them.
Passengers with priority boarding have a second bag allowance of 40 x 20 x 55cm.

Aer Lingus offers its passengers two different ways to bring a 10kg bag on their journey - bring onboard or check-in at the at the bag drop kiosk.
The airline’s 10kg bag options, applicable on Aer Lingus flights within Europe, allow passengers to bring a 10kg bag onboard with them by booking the ‘10kg carry-on bag’ option online for €9.99.
Alternatively, passengers can drop their bag off at the check-in desk or bag drop kiosk (available in Dublin, Shannon and London) when check-in opens and collect it again at the bag carousel when they land, for free.
If a booking includes a carry-on bag, then the passenger has to take the bag onboard with them.
A small personal item, such as a handbag or laptop bag, is still included for all passengers.
The maximum dimensions for carry-on baggage for Aer Lingus 10kg bags is 55 x 40 x 24.
When travelling on an Aer Lingus Regional flight, a 7kg limit per passenger for carry-on baggage applies. This bag must be stored in the overhead locker on Aer Lingus Regional flights. A small personal item is also included and must be stowed under the seat in front.
The maximum dimensions for carry-on baggage for all Aer Lingus Regional flights is 48 x 33 x 20cm.

Whether passengers can bring hand baggage on their KLM flight depends on their travel class and ticket type.
A small bag and hand baggage combined may weigh up to 12kg. If travelling in Business Class, a small bag and hand baggage combined may weigh up to 18kg. Passengers can always take a small bag with them.
A small bag must not exceed the maximum size of 40 x 30 × 15cm and must be placed under the seat in front.
Hand baggage, including handles and wheels, must not exceed the maximum size of 55 x 35 x 25cm and must be placed in the overhead bins. Hand baggage is not included when travelling in economy class with a basic ticket. Passengers can purchase one piece of hand baggage online or at the airport if needed.
In economy class, cabin baggage allowance depends on your ticket type. Passengers with a basic ticket are allowed to bring one small bag with a maximum size of 40 x 30 x 15cm.
Passengers with a light, standard, or flex ticket, are allowed to bring one small bag with a maximum size of 40 x 30 x 15cm and one piece of hand luggage with a maximum size of 55 x 35 x 25cm, including handles and wheels, onboard with them. A small bag and hand baggage combined may weigh up to 12kg.
In premium comfort class, passengers can bring onboard a small bag and two pieces of hand baggage.

On Air France flights, cabin baggage allowance depends on the fare chosen by the passenger.
In economy, up to one hand baggage is allowed depending on the chosen fare, plus one small bag with a maximum total weight of 12kg.
In the premium cabin, two hand baggage items and one small bag with a maximum total weight of 12 kg are permitted.
In the business and La Première cabins, two hand baggage items and one small bag with a maximum total weight of 18kg are permitted.
The maximum dimensions for hand baggage is 55 x 35 x 25cm, including pockets, wheels, and handles, and the bag must be stored in the overhead compartment.
In the cabin, one small bag with the dimensions of 40 x 30 x 15cm is allowed onboard and must be placed under the seat in front.

As carry-on baggage, passengers can take one item of baggage with them onboard, such as a trolley case, a compact, foldable baby buggy or a foldable garment bag. Carry-on baggage must weigh a maximum of 8kg.
Two items of 8kg are allowed in business or first class. The permitted amount of carry-on baggage for HON Circle Members, Senators, frequent flyers and passengers with Star Alliance Gold or Silver status is determined by the respective travel class.
The dimensions for carry-on baggage with Lufthansa is a maximum of 55 x 40 x 23cm. Dimensions for foldable garment bags is a maximum of 57 x 54 x 15cm.

Passengers flying with British Airways can bring a handbag of up to 40 x 30 x 15cm onboard with them, which must be placed under the seat in front.
Hand luggage with the maximum dimensions of 56 x 45 x 25cm, including wheels and handles, is allowed onboard.
Those travelling on the airline’s hand baggage only (economy basic) fare are charged extra to put any bags into the hold, as these fares do not include checked baggage.
The cost of each additional hold bag depends on the passenger’s destination and how many more bags they want to check in over their hold allowance.

TAP Air allows passengers to bring hand baggage of a maximum weight of 10kg and maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 25cm.
The airline also allows a personal article, such as a computer briefcase, a handbag or a shoulder bag, a duty-free shopping area bag, walking aids, and medical devices.
Personal items can be a maximum weight of 2kg with maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 15cm.
Those flying economy class can bring one item of hand baggage and one personal article onboard.
Passengers flying business class to/from North American destinations can bring one item of hand baggage and one personal article onboard.
Those flying business class to/from Europe, Africa, South America or on domestic flights are allowed two items of hand baggage and one personal article.
