Great savings to bite the Big Apple

ANYONE thinking about a pre-Christmas shopping trip to New York is advised to travel early to benefit from special deals. Tour America, in fact, believe the best savings — up to €200 — can be had by heading west next month on the basis that New York hotels are keen to fill rooms before domestic demand takes off.

It is also more likely to be pleasant during October, with temperatures averaging 18 degrees to allow more comfortable browsing around the shops and sights.

Tour America has put together some deals with it’s favourite hotels in Manhattan, such as €779 for three nights in the Hotel Beacon near Central Park, including flights, hotel, all taxes and charges and a Tour America voucher for an 11% Macy’s discount card. Departure is on October 9.

The company also offers the Wellington Hotel in Midtown for three nights priced at €789, with an October 16 departure.

* BMI, the third largest airline operating at Dublin Airport, is to double the number of services between Heathrow and Moscow from October 26. The additional flights will improve connecting options for passengers flying from Dublin to Moscow on bmi via Heathrow.

Return fares from Dublin are available from €289 including all taxes and charges, as part of bmi’s current ‘Better for Business’ global seat sale, which runs until September 30.

The deal allows bmi to offer onward connections in the Russian Federation on the services of Transaero from Moscow Domodedovo.
