* FLIGHT operators from Cork Airport are heading further and further afield. Malev Hungarian Airlines plans to link Cork to Yekaterinburg in Russia. Malev has coordinated the Budapest departures/arrivals with connections from western Europe, guaranteeing a quick and easy transfer.

From April 26, the Hungarian national airline will fly four times weekly from Cork via Budapest to the industrial heartland of the Urals. Yekaterinburg is also a stop on the Trans-Siberian railway and there are daily trains to Moscow and other Russian centres.

* THE HSS Stena Explorer fast ferry service has just returned to the Dun Laoghaire-Holyhead route.

A €1.75 million overhaul includes a new seating area at the rear of the fastest craft in service from Ireland to Wales. The Stena Explorer, which carries 1,500 passengers, 350 cars and/or 50 trucks, operates two return trips a day.
