Belfast is in fashion

BELFAST boasts a shopping precinct to rival many of the fashionable cities in Europe, and tourism authorities are hoping to take advantage of the city’s Fashion Week, conveniently timed just after St Patrick’s Day.

The jam-packed week takes place from March 19 to 24, with nightly shows at Belfast’s hottest new venue — the Baby Grand at the Opera House.

Tickets are available online at www.goh.co.uk. Accommodation can be booked through the Northern Ireland Tourist Board on 1850 230 230 or www.discovernorthernireland.com.

The Wellington Hotel has a special two-night bed and breakfast rate including one evening meal for €120 per person and there are other special deals from hotels such as the Hilton.

* SUNWAY Holidays are offering savings on all departures to short-haul destinations next month and in March, including the February mid-term break. The company is cutting up to €100 per person off seven-day breaks and the deadline for the offer is tomorrow.

Clients have a lot longer to take advantage of deals on weddings abroad, which are now becoming increasingly popular.

Traditionally, weddings abroad were perceived as just the bride and groom travelling to an idyllic location to get married alone on a beach and although some couples still choose this option, more and more couples are opting to tie the knot overseas with all their family and friends present.

Sunway offers a planning network for couples with a weddings reservations office in Dublin and local wedding organisers in each destination.

Many couples choose to stay in one hotel with close family, while friends stay nearby.

The company features weddings in the Costa del Sol, Cyprus, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, Sicily, Turkey, Mauritius, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Barbados, St Lucia, Jamaica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Thailand.

Basic wedding packages in the Costa del Sol start from €1,700. Flights and accommodation are priced separately from €519 per person.

* CANVAS Holidays have introduced an internet video service to assist customers.

This new facility enables people to view facilities on camping/mobile home facilities on screen.

Detailed videos cover types of accommodation offered, services available — including children’s clubs — and features some of the top campsites offered by the company.

In addition, the videos highlight the attractions of a Canvas holiday for families, couples and those with pre-school children. They also feature interviews with holidaymakers.
