Irish content creator and musician Garron Noone has announced that he is taking a “small little social media break” for a couple of months.
The Mayo native, who boasts 2.1 million Instagram followers and 2 million on TikTok, and who has become well known for his ‘Follow me, I’m delicious’ tagline, shared a video on Tuesday evening explaining his decision.
“Hello, delicious people. You’re looking fine. I’m gonna be saying a little goodbye to you today, just a tiny little goodbye, just maybe for a couple of months,” he said.
“I just need to take a small little social media break. I’ve been posting videos pretty much every day for the last two and a half years, and it’s been my great f***ing pleasure to do so.
“There’s a lot of ideas I have that I want to work on. I have a few gigs coming up and some other bits. So, I need to put my focus there for a little while.
“And to be honest with you, I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself trying to feel like I’m worthy of the numbers of people who are watching the videos and all that and I think I just need to get my head out of the game for a little while and I’ll come back nice and fresh with my lovely new ideas.”
He thanked his followers and fans for the opportunities they have given him over the past number of years, and as a parting gesture, he shared that he will be making a charitable donation on behalf of his supporters.
“Today I want to make a €10,000 donation, on behalf of you good, delicious people, to Doctors Without Borders. There’s a lot going on in the world at the moment. I know you’re hearing about that everywhere, you probably don’t want to hear about it from me, but they do excellent humanitarian work and I just think it’s a great charity to give to. So, thank you very much for that,” he said.
Noone said any videos that do appear on his social media accounts will be sponsored posts for which the dates have already been locked in.
In his farewell message, he described it as “a pleasure” having so much support and reminded viewers that they “are delicious” and to “stay delicious”.
Earlier this year, Noone found himself at the centre of a social media storm after he discussed immigration in a video that went viral. The backlash to the video ultimately saw him leave TikTok, but he later returned.
