'They’re all lovely lads': Meet the knitter who creates Kneecap’s balaclavas

The rugged Lewis Kenny is an unlikely-looking knitter, but a chance meeting with rap band Kneecap has led to a sideline business creating headgear in national flags and in the colours of sports teams, says Jonathan deBurca Butler

Lewis Kenny is young and handsome, with a hipster beard and a strong Dublin accent, so it’s hard to imagine him sitting quietly with a ball of yarn, gently guiding a pair of knitting needles. Yet his deep, smokey voice and thoughtful answers reveal a reflective character with a quiet, slightly self-deprecating confidence.

And he is always looking for something new.
