As most of the country comes back into reality after the Christmas break, people are already looking forward to their next long weekend.
But when will they take place? Here are your bank holidays and midterm breaks in 2025.
Now in its third year, the newest public holiday to mark St Brigid falls on the first Monday of the month or it moves to the other side of the weekend if February 1 falls on a Friday.
This year, it falls on Monday, February 3.
The first midterm break of the year also falls in February. All primary schools will close on Thursday February 20 and 21, but schools can use three discretionary days to extend to a five-day break, starting on February 17, like those in post-primary schools can expect.
St Patrick’s Day falls on a Monday this year, which will allow you to partake in parades and festivities before heading back to work on Tuesday.
The end of Lent will be celebrated on April 21.
All schools will close on Friday, April 11 and re-open on Monday, April 28.
This year’s May banker will take place on May 5.
The first bank holiday of the summer will take place on Monday, June 2. The Leaving Cert written exams will start on Wednesday, June 4.
Secondary schools usually close for summer before the bank holiday while primary schools usually shut in the last week of June.
With festival season in full swing, the fingers will be crossed for some sunshine ahead of the academic year.
After a couple of months without a bank holiday, people can look forward to a lie-in on Monday, October 27 ahead of spooky season and after the Cork Jazz Festival.
Christmas Day falls on a Thursday this year.
The final bank holiday of the year, St Stephen’s Day, takes place on a Friday.
