Seven things to do this weekend, like Aperol brunch in Cork and a bee fest in Dublin
Aperol brunch, anyone? Here are seven ways to mark the weekendÂ
Another week almost over, and it’s time to start planning the weekend. Once again, there are plenty of fun events on around the country. Here, we look at some of the highlights, including neon painting, swing dancing and that all-important match on Sunday!

Kickstart your weekend with brunch at The Hideaway, TradeHouse Central in Ballincollig. Enjoy delicious food (did someone say breakfast pizza?), Aperol cocktails, cocktail-making demo, a DJ and some prizes. Tickets are €25 and include brunch and two drinks.
An art class with a difference. At Civic Trust House in Cork city learn how to paint with neon paints under a UV light. Art Tea Cork are putting on three classes with different themes and time slots: choose from Frida Kahlo, The Puffin or Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Tickets are €25.
If you fancy a swing around the dance floor, head on down to the Cork County Cricket Club on Saturday night for a swing dance social. Beginners are welcome, and there will be a DJ throwing down some swinging tunes. Tickets are €5 on the night.

Hill Skills Day takes place this Sunday in Waterford at the Mauma Road forest track. This is a Mountaineering Ireland programme created to teach people the basics of navigation, map reading, movement skills and equipment tips. This full day of training includes a hike with an experienced guide and costs €25.
Didn’t manage to snag tickets for the big game? Lucky ticket-holders in Cork will see the Cork v Clare final shown live on big screens and there’ll be music and entertainment on the day. Tickets for the family-friendly, alcohol-free event are now sold out.

Kildare village is linking up with the All Together Now festival for a weekend of entertainment. Over the weekend acts from the festival (which takes place on the August bank holiday weekend) will perform, including Sing Along Social, Glasshouse Ensemble and TBL8 Brass, plus DJ sets from January Winters and Marcus O'Laoire. There will also be prize giveaways for a chance to win a pair of All Together Now weekend festival tickets with luxury boutique camping.
There’ll be plenty of buzz at the Skerries Wild Bee festival this weekend. This festival is family-friendly and visitors can take part in bee-themed activities, as well as educational events and lectures for those who are serious about nature. Guided walks, pollinator-friendly gardening tips, face painting and a fancy dress prize-giving event, all feature at the event. Join the buzz at this free event (suggested donations are welcome).

Garden of Shadows
The Garden of Shadows is part of this year’s Skibereen Arts Festival. This immersive event will run every night at 9pm from August 2 to 5 in the Liss Ard estate. The nighttime performance is created by UK artist Jony Easterby. It features a series of sound and light installations throughout a 1km trail through Liss Ard. Tickets cost €20.
